Studio School // 2018

Studio School offers a wide range of art classes for adults and children, including painting, drawing, pottery, and more. Using the Museum’s collection and exhibitions as inspiration, explore your own creativity while discovering new techniques. Whether you’re interested in a laid-back craft night or an in-depth course, Studio School has something for you.

No prior experience is necessary. All materials are provided. Registration is required at least 48 hours in advance unless otherwise noted. Members receive a 20% discount on all Studio School classes.

The Original Makers: Maker Stations
There’s a maker in us all. Discover yours at the pop-up Maker Station by creating your own art that is inspired by artwork in The Original Makers: Folk Art from the Cargo Collection.
Drop by Saturday July 21, August 4, and August 11 from 10AM-12:30PM.  Free, no registration necessary. Each drop-in session will feature a different community artist and related art activities, so you can make something different every time. Open to makers of all ages.
Take your artwork with you or loan it to us temporarily and be part of the New Makers Community Exhibition in the Sharon and Grady Burrow Education Gallery, August 16 through August 28. Come to the closing reception on August 28 from 5 to 7PM and enjoy light refreshments. After the reception, take home your artwork from the show.

COPPER PLATE INTAGLIO PRINTMAKING
Inspired by old masters and Birmingham’s Richard Coe, learn a contemporary twist on an age-old printing technique with artist Greg Randall.

No prior experience necessary.

Create a Stacked Ceramic Sculpture. Sculpt three-dimensional forms and pieces out of clay. Learn to glaze and finish your original works.
