The Collection at the BMA

Artist: Meta Vaux Warrick Fuller, American, 1877 - 1968

This bronze sculpture represents a young black boy carrying a small-mouthed jug. Both of his hands are wrapped around the jug in his arms, and another jug lays on its side at his feet. He is clothed in a tunic-like garment, and his posture is active: swinging arms, a cocked head, and bent knees.
