What to Wear to AOTR

/ Art On The Rocks

Guest Post by Randall Porter, Fashion Marketing Consultant at Soca Clothing

The 14th season of Art On The Rocks presented by Dale’s Seasoning concludes this Friday, August 17 with musical guests Tank and the Bangas and yeah, I am sad the season is coming to an end, too!

Art On The Rocks is one of Birmingham’s biggest nights blending art and fashion. It’s the place to be and be seen– not to mention, the Museum makes an incredible backdrop for all those aspiring Instagram models out there. In all seriousness, the question I get the most from people who are new to the event is what should I wear?

Is it formal or casual? Long or short dress? Heels? Flats? There is no one answer to that! Fashion to me is all about how you put your own personal spin and style to it. However, I would love to share some inspiration that I deemed appropriate for an occasion like this. In collaboration with Soca Clothing and Glow, we curated three looks to help you create your own.

Look #1

This Irene Woven one-shoulder tie jumpsuit with contrast-corded piping and wide, long sleeve is perfect for a Friday night out. This look is designed with the business creative in mind. You can show some skin, but not too much and with a bit sass, thanks to the sleeves. We paired this look with a nude open-toe heel (black would work, too) to give it a pop of color and compliment the gold and black accessories.

Look #2

Next, sweet and whimsical are the literal adjectives to describe this piece of perfection. Her sheer bell sleeves and deep v-neck will make her stand out from the rest. We had a bit of fun with the accessories because this look deserved more for an event like Art On The Rocks. The crystal earrings reflect off the mini dress and were such a nice compliment. We also added a long, thin necklace for bit more flair. These simple details are so important!

Look #3

This dress serviced no appeal on a hanger, however, once Haylee stepped into it, the drama of the dress was revealed. This navy blue Angel Biba dress will have anyone feeling like a goddess. The dress is the star and does not need many accessories. Pair with your favorite open-toe heels and let your hair down!

All of these looks can be found at Soca Clothing in Birmingham. Again, Art On The Rock is the place to show up and out and let your creativity fly. Side note: I am really going to miss seeing the looks Travis Mackey comes up with each year for this series. He is the true definition of owning your personal style!

Style on,
Randall
