Fairfield Fire Department’s Cultural Arts Festival

/ In the Community - Slideshows

Since October is National Fire Prevention Month, the Fairfield Fire Department is busy informing the public about fires and how to remain safe. As part of the month of educating about safety, the Fairfield Fire Department hosted its “Safety Is Fun” Day, now in its 14th year, which is a cultural arts festival for five area schools. This year’s festival welcomed 800 students (in grades k5-3) and adults to City Park for a day of activities and fun, hands-on projects.

The Museum participated in the cultural arts festival, creating decorative bookmarks, inspired by Native American symbols. The bookmark activity promoted two major initiatives of the Museum’s Education Department – literacy and creativity! This was a wonderful opportunity to bring art to these students, whose schools are showing a decline in arts programs.
