Ways of Seeing: Fashion – “Strike a Pose”
This fashion photo booth is inspired by Irving Penn’s Mrs. William Rhinelander Stewart photograph. Penn worked for Vogue magazine for 60 years and focused on minimal backgrounds in his works. This is the perfect place to capture your unique Art On The Rocks style and make an artistic statement. Find it at the end of the Museum’s exhibition Ways of Seeing: Fashion. Ways of Seeing: Fashion is presented by Style Yourself Chic with Megan LaRussa and made possible by the City of Birmingham.

School of Beauty, School of Culture by Kerry James Marshall
This contemporary masterpiece is extraordinarily colorful and powerful. Who wouldn’t want a picture with this in the frame? Marshall, a Birmingham native, invites the viewer to truly study the beauty salon scene he has created. Marshall’s popular work relates heavily to the Civil Rights Movement and tells a story with every detail. Take a minute to appreciate the incredible detail and snap a picture while you’re there.
Bands of Color in Various Directions by Sol LeWitt
Located on the Upper Plaza of our beautiful outdoor Sculpture Garden, this piece serves as a great backdrop that will match any outfit. The bright colors and sheer size of LeWitt’s work make for an eye catching photo. LeWitt said himself that “conceptual art is good only when the idea is good” – So get ready to strike your best pose in front of one of the largest artworks in the Museum’s collection.
