Reflections of Us: The Museum in the Community

Imagine using the Museum's varied collections as a springboard for thinking about oneself and inspiring a work of art! That is just what students around the city have been doing during the school year. Inspired by the Museum’s art and outreach programs, the students have explored "our" world to discover themselves.
Participants in the City of Birmingham’s District 8 Party with a Purpose community event, held in October 2012, created works in the exhibition. They learned about artists and styles before experimenting with watercolor and collage techniques. District 8’s widely distributed community calendar featured works in the exhibition.
