Approximately one year ago devastating tornadoes tore through our state, demolishing several local communities. Artist-in-Residence Toby Richards developed an art program in the community of South Hampton in Pratt City as a response to the storms. Soon after that, she traveled to the Carribean island of Domenica, where she witnessed similar living conditions, but in a totally different light. Richards will recount her experiences working with two very different cultures and the power of art as a method of recovery and transformation. |
