Kelsey Frady, BMA/UAB Curatorial Fellow will discuss the Minton Greek Slave sculpture, a recent acquisition in the newly re-installed English gallery. Frady will focus on the popularity of the image in mid-19th century, how the sculpture was received by the public, and the adoption of the Greek Slave imagery by various suffragists and early women’s rights movements. |
