Large Yellow Charger Incised with Dragon Among Clouds Motif

China

Qing dynasty (1644-1912), Qianlong period (1723-1735)

This very large platter is marked on the bottom with the mark of the Emperor Qianlong (1736-1795). The beautiful even yellow glaze, the magnificent dragon in the center and the significant size all indicate a piece that was originally destined as a decorative object for an imperial palace. Works of this size and quality were never intended for export.
