Thursday, October 3 // FREE admission
Wander the galleries, sip cocktails in the garden, catch a movie, and take a drawing class during the Museum's after hours event, First Thursday! This Thursday we are excited to welcome back a masterpiece of our collection, Albert Bierstadt's Looking Down Yosemite Valley, California. After its travels to the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art this year, the painting will be welcomed home by Curator of American Art Dr. Graham Boettcher, who will lead a gallery talk on its exciting history, its context within the Civil War, and recent discoveries within this beloved piece. Continue the welcome home celebration with a wine tasting from Hop City Birmingham, live jazz by Foxxy Fatts & Company, and delicious tapas from Oscar's Café. Read the full schedule of events here!
